OK - let's get "real" for a minute!
Obviously Big Bad Woofer is just a profile name, or "persona" if you
will, that I thought was pseudo-clever and most of all, fun! If you
didn't catch it... it's supposed to be a play on words using the name Big
Bad Wolf (Little Red Riding Hood? The Three Pigs? Peter and
the... any of this ringing a bell?) but of course - having to explain
it takes ALL the fun out of it!
As you will undoubtedly discover in reading through this website, I'm not
all that big, not all that bad, and not much of a "woofer" - but instead - I'm a regular, guy-next-door type who has my
own unique situation and life circumstances - AND who decided to create a
web presence to share some of that with the world. If you have no
interest in the life and times of a regular guy in an irregular world...
then TURN BACK NOW! But, if you take interest in reading about the
sometimes mundane, sometimes hilarious, sometimes exciting and sometimes
painful events of the life of a fellow human being - then by all means...
read on!
A little more about me...
Well... my name is Robb and I'm a fairly well-grounded, masculine, married man who, since 2002, has been going through a process of self-discovery and also through a separation from my wife. I live in the Dallas, Texas area and if labels are your thing (they are not mine) then I suppose you could say I've been straight all of my life, but am continuing to discover more about myself and my attraction to other, masculine men.
Since venturing out into the big "gay" world, I've already had the displeasure of a REALLY bad experience with a guy who pretended to be a friend, but who turned out to be very unstable and threatening to myself and my family. After finally getting rid of the stalker, I decided I didn't want to further complicate my life or compromise the safety of my family. So, when meeting someone new, I let it be known that I was only looking for people to talk with and with whom I could possibly form casual friendships. I made it clear that any kind "relationship" was out of the question. And then I met Al... What I had not counted on was meeting someone who would prove to be kind, gentle, caring, understanding, patient and... (I could just go on and on). Since meeting Al at the end of 2004, I have come to know him on a deeper, more spiritual basis, and have come to consider him a "keeper". He, my friends, my children and I continue to take life a day at a time and to marvel at how friendship and love can grow and change.
Yes, I did say "my children" - because in addition to all this, I am also the father of three of the most wonderful children on the planet! They remind me every day how precious life is, and how important it is to take the time required to really know ourselves and to follow our dreams... our "callings". So you can probably guess, I have a lot of responsibilities to live up to and special relationships to nurture. My life and emotional/intellectual states are very complex and busy, and somewhat scary and uncertain at times, but also very rewarding.
When I'm not at work or taking care of things around the house, I'm usually hanging out with friends or pursuing some of my other passions. These include photography and art, and I am in the process of building a portfolio and art gallery/photography business. So, if you have been wanting to have some new pictures taken - please give me a shout. If you have an interest in finding out more about me - just let me know. I can be a bit shy at first - but I warm up pretty quickly. Al and I both like to meet new people for friendship and social activities.
Cheers!
